Ascorbic acid is used as an antioxidant in soft drinks. It can be analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC). A commercially available soft drink (vitamin drink) was analyzed by ultrafast HPLC.
Results
The ascorbic acid peak was detected approximately one minute after injection of 2 µL diluted and filtered sample. Ultrafast HPLC, such as Prominence UFLC or Nexera XR, reduces the analysis time to approximately 1/10 the analysis time of general LC.
A liquid medium flows through the flow channels of a high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC). When a sample is introduced into the instrument, the components of the sample are separated in a separation column and the amount of each component is measured by the detector. The Prominence UFLC is an ultrafast HPLC that incorporates a high-speed and high-separation column to reduce the analysis time to approximately 1/10 the analysis time of conventional LC, while maintaining the high separation and repeatability.
